Dedić: Export of milk from BiH to the EU halted

Šemsudin Dedić, Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, stated today at the Spreča farm near Tuzla, from where the first quantities of milk for the European Union countries were supposed to depart, that the decision on milk export from BiH has been halted because one of the countries filed an appeal, reports the Patria news agency.

- Although the export of milk to the European Union was supposed to start today, it has been halted. The European Commission did not want to tell us which country filed the complaint, even though we have met all the quality and requirements and are at the Spreča farm, which produces milk that meets all criteria. This news came as a negative surprise - said Dedić, as reported by Prvi.tv.

He explained that 20 days have passed since the deadline for appeals ended, "but no one informed us about anything, and the entire process is, I won't say unserious, but we should have been informed on time."

He stated that BiH should not rely on milk exports, but that citizens should buy domestic milk as much as possible.

The Spreča farm is one of four farms in BiH that have met the conditions for their milk to be exported to the EU. Milk from this farm is purchased by the dairy "Milkos."
