De Niro: It's a shame such a city could be attacked

Robert De Niro arrived on the red carpet in front of the National Theatre in Sarajevo, where he was welcomed by nearly a thousand fans. Incidentally, the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival also opened tonight, and thousands of citizens welcomed De Niro, as well as other guests in front of the National Theatre.

- I am glad to be here. What happened in Sarajevo and New York is terrible. We have some unofficial connection. Perhaps more official than I say - said the Hollywood actor.

When asked about Sarajevo, he said:

- I was interested in what I saw on the news, the shelling that happened for four years. I saw the city from the hills, I was impressed by the beauty of the city. It's a shame such a city could be attacked in such a way - emphasized the legendary actor.

De Niro said he came to SFF because he was always interested in it.

- I was always interested in coming to SFF. They asked me and I said I would come. I came with two children, for them to experience this with me - he added.

Regarding the cult film Taxi Driver, he said that during the filming he had no idea how it would end.

- When you are filming a movie, you don't know how it will end. I didn't expect one sentence from the movie to become legendary - said Robert De Niro.
