SARAJevo, (Patria) - Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism Edita Đapo held a series of meetings with the Director of the Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH Jasmin Mahmuzić, with whom she discussed ways to help tourism workers, especially hoteliers in the Federation of BiH.
Đapo asked Director Mahmuzić to allow all hoteliers to introduce a moratorium on loans they have with banks. The hotel industry is one of the most affected sectors during the coronavirus pandemic, which is why it needs special assistance.
"I requested a moratorium of at least one year on loans taken out by hoteliers. Given that most of them have made large investments and have huge loan installments, and have no business and are in a precarious position due to closed borders, I think the requests are justified. Director of the Banking Agency Mahmuzić agreed with this, and promised that this agency will consider the current situation of hoteliers," said Minister Đapo.
According to her, the requests for introducing a moratorium arose from direct daily meetings that she, as minister, holds with hoteliers. Minister Đapo once again called on the Council of Ministers of BiH to open borders for citizens of the Republic of Turkey, and other countries from the East, with the aim of enabling the arrival of tourists and trying to save the tourist season in BiH as much as possible, it was announced from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
