DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra to perform tonight, playing the golden years of the Sarajevo scene

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Days of Remembrance event, held from April 4th to 9th, marking the 30th anniversary of the beginning of the siege of Sarajevo, concludes this Saturday with a grand concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra at the National Theatre in Sarajevo. A special feature of this concert is that it will feature compositions that marked the golden years of the Sarajevo pop-rock scene.

The sixties, seventies, and eighties. Compositions by Indexi, Kemal Monteno, Bijelo dugme, and others are already part of the cultural heritage and, given their longevity across generations, can be called classics. Preserving memories is the primary mission of the concert - which is why they will also be on the regular repertoire of the House on the Shore.

"Our idea was for this to be a kind of musical primer for all those who were born much later, but who know very well that even today, Indexi are something that represents the beginning of what Sarajevo was Sarajevo for both the young and old," said Dino Mustafić, director of the National Theatre Sarajevo.

Conductor Ranko Rihtman emphasizes that this is a good idea and that it should continue - that cycles should be created, covering the entire opus created in those years.

New arrangements by maestro Ranko Rihtman and academic composer Adnan Mušanović for songs like "Sarajevo, ljubavi moja", "Gori vatra", "Sarajevo će biti" represent a kind of historical lesson on the development of the music scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"With this music, we celebrate a new beginning, we invite generations to exchange ideas, views, and experiences from different periods tomorrow after the concert," adds Vedran Tuce, director of the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra.

The concert "Sarajevo, ljubavi moja" is a gift to all citizens of Sarajevo, admission is free with prior reservation.
