Days of Stari Grad Municipality: Exhibition of Handicrafts 'Konya – Laleleri' Opened

(Patria) - On the occasion of the Days of Stari Grad Municipality, a traditional exhibition of handicrafts by K.E.C. „Konya – Laleleri“ was opened in Kuršumli medresa - Hanikah.

It is an exhibition of handicrafts made using various techniques of embroidery, painting on silk, wood, foil, calligraphic works, jewelry, and more. The unique products on display were created in the workshops of the Cultural and Educational Center "Konya Laleleri-Lale Lale Konye", where participants are trained in various artistic techniques for making decorative items and fashion accessories. Today's exhibition, as in previous years, was visited by the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Sarajevo, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić. As he said, he is always pleasantly surprised by the unique works created in the educational workshops of the Cultural and Educational Center "Konya Laleleri-Lale Lale Konye".

„This is already the sixth year that we have organized this exhibition as part of the Days of Stari Grad Municipality. And as I see, every year more and more hardworking women are involved in the educational workshops of the Center, which truly pleases me“, said Hadžibajrić.

Nevresa Ahatović, president of the Cultural and Educational Center "Konja Laleleri - Tulipani Konje", pointed out that the Center has existed for 13 years and currently has more than 500 participants, and that more than 3,000 have passed through the Center so far. „We have been organizing such exhibitions for 13 years, and for the sixth consecutive year we have been doing it as part of the Days of the Municipality“, explained Nevresa.

„Most of the works were selected because we have a large number of participants and we could not exhibit everything we wanted. I can say that I am extremely satisfied with the professionalism with which they work. Most of the works they want to keep for themselves, but there are also those they want to sell“, explained Ahatović.

Sadeta Orman, one of the educators of the Center, says she has been intensively engaged in this work for 11 years. „We have many courses and workshops. I work on painting on silk and silk scarves. All of this together is very useful, and I am very happy to be part of this wonderful collective“, said Sadeta. In addition to numerous guests, today's exhibition was also attended by Sanel Mušović, director of the Maarif school campus.

The cultural and entertainment part of the program was handled by members of the choir section „Ruže“ from the Center for Healthy Aging of the Stari Grad municipality and the Center.

The exhibition is open until May 9th.
