“White Ribbon Days” begin in Zagreb with forum “To the Murdered Children of Prijedor”

As part of the White Ribbon Days, a public forum titled „To the Murdered Children of Prijedor“ will be held in Zagreb this evening, Patria reports.

This event is organized by the Council of the Bosniak National Minority of the City of Zagreb in memory of the crime that occurred in Prijedor in 1992. In Prijedor, 3,173 Bosniak and Croat civilians were killed. They were imprisoned in the death camps of Omarska, Keraterm, Trnopolje, and Manjača based on their identity cards. About 30,000 civilian residents of Prijedor went through horrific torture and concentration camps. More than 300 people were brutally killed in Omarska. In Keraterm, about 200 residents of Prijedor were killed in less than half an hour. Hall 3 of this factory was surrounded by machine guns and the shooting began. Bullets passed through the thin metal and caused a horrific massacre inside. When it was all over, only seven residents of Prijedor survived beneath the bodies of their fathers, brothers, relatives, and neighbors.

The documentary film „Beautiful Village“ by Kemal Pervanić will be shown at the Islamic Center in Zagreb.

On White Ribbon Day, May 31, white ribbons and commemorative materials will be distributed on Ban Jelačić Square to remind of the horrific crimes committed by Serbian forces. After Srebrenica, Prijedor suffered one of the worst crimes of genocide.
