The day Bosnian heroes Enver Šehović and Zahir Panjeta died

By laying flowers and paying tribute at the Memorial to Kobilja Glava and the Central Memorial in Vogošća, and visiting the cemetery, the 21st anniversary of the defense of Žuč hill and the death of wartime commanders and heroes of the defense of BiH Enver Šehović and Zahir Panjeta, as well as their comrades-in-arms, was marked today, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Žuč hill was a strategically important point for the defense of Sarajevo during the Serbian aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. In July 1993 alone, 89 members of the First Glorious Motorized Brigade of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH lost their lives at this point.

The commander of the First Glorious Motorized Brigade, Enver Šehović, died on July 27, 1993, during the fiercest battle for the defense of Žuč in the village of Jezera near Sarajevo. On the same day, Zahir Panjeta, commander of the First Battalion of this brigade, died from the same shell fired from the aggressor's positions.

Enver Šehović was awarded the highest wartime recognition "Golden Lily", and posthumously received the highest decoration of RBiH - the Order of the Hero of the Liberation War and the rank of Brigadier of the Army of RBiH.
Zahir Panjeta was also posthumously awarded the highest wartime recognition, the Golden Lily, reports Patria.
