White Ribbon Day: Region pays tribute to murdered Prijedor residents

The Association of Camp Inmates in Bosnia and Herzegovina will mark "White Ribbon Day" in memory of the crimes against the non-Serb population of the Prijedor region, committed in 1992, NAP reports.

The Association of Camp Inmates reminds that on 31 May 1992, the authorities of Prijedor, via radio, ordered the non-Serb population to display white ribbons on visible parts of their bodies and white sheets on their houses. The Army and Police of Republika Srpska thus identified non-Serbs in Prijedor, after which they took them to camps and killed them.

In memory of all victims of fascist policy, the Association of Camp Inmates in BiH will hang white sheets on the windows of their offices on Tuesday.

White Ribbon Day is not only marked in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also marked in Croatia. On 26 May, the White Ribbon Days began in Zagreb.

White Ribbon Day will also be marked in Sisak. It will begin with a march through the city of Sisak at 5:00 PM, followed by a panel discussion on the genocide in Prijedor, a photo exhibition from the exhumation of the mass grave "Tomašica", and a screening of documentary films by the Association of Camp Inmates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, NAP reports.
