A group of dissatisfied Albanians broke through a police cordon in Đakovica, throwing firecrackers and spraying police with red paint. Strong police forces were securing displaced Serbs who came to Đakovica to celebrate their patron saint day, reports the Patria news agency.
On the occasion of the visit of displaced Serbs from Đakovica, who celebrated the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God in the Orthodox church, a group of dissatisfied Albanians protested.
The gathered briefly broke through the police cordon, with detonations of firecrackers, spraying police with red paint.
The police used tear gas and prevented them from approaching the displaced as they were leaving the churchyard by bus.
The police arrested one person. The gathered shouted "Serbia cannot pass," displaying a banner reading "No reconciliation without justice."
After a short time, the gathered Albanians dispersed. The displaced from Đakovica safely left the town under strong police escort and headed towards Visoki Dečani, RTS reports.
