Will the Coordination Mechanism be Finalized?

A meeting will be held in Sarajevo tomorrow between the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić and the presidents of the entity governments Željka Cvijanović and Fadil Novalić, dedicated to the coordination mechanism which, it is now evident, has still not been agreed upon, writes Patria.

An agreed and functional coordination mechanism is necessary for the EU membership application, submitted on February 15, 2016, to be credible and taken into consideration.

However, on the other hand, there is a justified fear that a final agreement will not be reached tomorrow, given the events surrounding the decision on the unified census results processing program made by the Director of the Agency for Statistics of BiH Velimir Jukić, after an agreement with the RS Institute of Statistics could not be reached for months. The RS entity has announced that the published census results will not be valid or acceptable to them. Therefore, the Coordination Mechanism could also be a point of contention tomorrow.

Another condition for the credibility of the application is the adaptation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA). Prime Minister Denis Zvizdić said today that the initialing of the official protocol for the adapted Stabilization and Association Agreement could be completed by the end of this month at the latest.
