If the White House had burned instead of the BiH Presidency, this would not have happened

Whoever sits in the BiH Presidency, be it Željko Komšić, Nebojša Radmanović or Bakir Izetbegović, this should not have happened – stated for the BiH news agency Patria Adamir Jerković, director of the Archives of FBiH. He reveals that the events of February 7th disturbed him.

- If, by chance, it had been the White House instead of the BiH Presidency, all Americans would have prevented it, and I believe that something like this would not have been allowed – Jerković emphasizes.

We remind you that after the BiH Archives were damaged in the violent protests of February 7th, the damages are still being tallied. Employees of the Archives of BiH and FBiH have been working for days to clear the premises, classifying burnt documents as well as documents destroyed during firefighting.

- Depo 1, where the most valuable material of the BiH Archives was kept, was damaged. Documents from the joint ministry of Austria-Hungary, the collection of gifts and acquisitions, microfilmed material, and about 10 oriental manuscripts were in the collection; the damage is incalculable – states Jerković.

According to him, the funds in the basement of the BiH Presidency were also affected. The only way to preserve what remains is the digitization process. A good fire protection system saved the Archives of FBiH, Jerković explained.

- Thanks to the fact that I feared fire, we saved a significant collection, dating back to the period of Branko Mikulić. Experts come to us from all over the world, they research, books are written. It is also little known that the documents of the president and vice-president of FBiH are kept in our Archives. When there was an affair concerning Živko Budimir (president of FBiH, editorial note), all possible BiH security agencies, as well as Živko Budimir himself, examined the documents – Jerković reveals.
