Cvjetićanin: Secret adoption of the Coordination Mechanism is the most radical example of government secrecy!

The secretly adopted coordination mechanism at the session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 26 surprised both the non-governmental sector and people who have been following European integration for years, writes the news agency Patria.

Tijana Cvjetićanin, a member of the Initiative for Monitoring EU Integration, says that „in principle, this is yet another case where processes related to EU integration were conducted outside the public eye, with the difference that this is the most radical example because no one even knew that the Council of Ministers had convened to discuss and adopt it.“

- Now especially because it concerns the Coordination Mechanism, which for years has been one of the main problems that the public should have been informed about, if not involved in, which was not the case, so that, and whatever it contains, is absolutely condemnable – Cvjetićanin emphasized.

She added that the document has been adopted, published in the Official Gazette, and enters into force, and in the event that the Parliament has suggestions or wishes for something to be done differently, this act must be repealed and then re-adopted, which would be an unacceptable practice for a document of such importance.

- We also adopted the reform agenda, which no one had insight into until it was adopted and published, including the parliaments. We constantly have processes in which representatives of the executive branch and their partners from the EU participate, and no one else has access to them, and no one's suggestions are either invited or included. When you look at the reform agenda, what have we gotten so far? It emerged as a document that was supposed to develop the Growth and Employment Agreement, which itself arose as a document in which people had numerous demands, which were presented at protests.

However, after all that passed through filters, we now have something that has nothing to do with the social problems that brought people to the streets at that time, and now we have entity Labor Laws, both adopted in urgent procedure, without the consent of trade unions. This goes in a direction opposite to everything that should be the very essence of the reform agenda. And generally, it is skimpy and does not cover even close to the areas that need reform – Cvjetićanin emphasized.
