Legendary actor Kirk Douglas dies at 103

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Legendary actor Kirk Douglas has died at the age of 103, his son Michael announced.

He confirmed this to People magazine, Reuters reported.

"With immense sadness, my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas has left us," Michael stated.

"To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of film who also lived to see his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the principles he believed in set standards for all of us to strive for," added Michael Douglas.

Kirk Douglas starred in about a hundred films, some of which became classics such as "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954), "Paths of Glory" (1957), "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" (1957), and especially "Spartacus" (1960), a film made during the McCarthy era that made Douglas a global star.
