Intelligence leak: Iran's nuclear program not destroyed, Trump accuses media of downplaying success

(Patria) - The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is reacting strongly to the leak of an intelligence assessment regarding the American attack on Iran. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff told Fox News that it is a "treasonous" act.

"It's shameful, it's treason and it must be investigated. Whoever is responsible for it should be held accountable," Witkoff said.

He added that he had read all the reports on the damage assessment and asserted that there is "no doubt" that all three nuclear facilities hit by the American attack were "destroyed."

The U.S. military strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities last weekend did not destroy key components of the country's nuclear program and likely set it back by only a few months, an early assessment by the U.S. intelligence community shows, as reported by CNN.

The assessment was produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and is based on a damage analysis conducted after the attack by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), one source said.

Trump then posted a clip of the interview on Truth Social and quoted Witkoff: "We dropped 12 bunker-buster bombs on Fordow. No doubt we breached the protection... and no doubt it is completely DESTROYED. So, claims that we did not achieve the goal are completely absurd!"

"FAKE NEWS CNN, TOGETHER WITH THE DISASTER CALLED THE NEW YORK TIMES, HAVE JOINED FORCES IN AN ATTEMPT TO DENIGRATE ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MILITARY ATTACKS IN HISTORY. THE NUCLEAR FACILITIES IN IRAN ARE COMPLETELY DESTROYED! BOTH CNN AND THE TIMES ARE UNDER PUBLIC FIRE!" Trump wrote.
