Montenegro: Criminal group preparing terrorist attack during elections arrested

Bratislav Dikić, former head of the Gendarmerie, was arrested in Montenegro together with a group of at least 15 people for whom the Montenegrin police have information that they planned to cause riots and armed conflicts across the country during today's parliamentary elections, Montenegrin media report, Patria reports.

Based on an agreement with individuals from one political group, as the Montenegrin police suspect, the group planned attacks and actions, Pink M television reports.

At the head of the group, which allegedly brought a large amount of weapons and explosives into Montenegro, is the former dismissed head of the Gendarmerie from Serbia, Bratislav Bata Dikić. An official statement from the Montenegrin police is expected regarding this case.

The President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, did not want to comment on last night's arrest today, stating that one should wait for the competent Montenegrin authorities to speak.

- I have information regarding the locating and arrest of the group that planned to carry out terrorist actions in Montenegro today - Vujanović said, but added that it is up to the state authorities of Montenegro to speak about it.
