Is Čović dragging the Federation into debt slavery through his banking connections?

It is a sad government whose first moves are new borrowings of citizens, and from this government I have seen nothing else but negotiating with financial institutions for new loans, warns former deputy state finance minister Fuad Kasumović, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Members of the BiH Presidency on Monday received the leadership of the UniCredit group, at a time when entity authorities announce that if the IMF does not approve new loan tranches, they have a reserve in commercial banks.

Sources close to the meeting claim for the Patria agency that the money for the Federation could be provided by UniCredit bank in BiH, which is allegedly under the direct control of Dragan Čović, or whose word at least carries significant weight in this bank?!

It should be recalled that UniCredit bank is one of the few global banks operating in BiH that does not have its headquarters in Sarajevo, but its main office is in Mostar.

Given Čović's close ties with the domestic leadership of this bank in Mostar, and if this announced loan is realized, it is clear that the HDZ leader will drag the Federation into debt slavery, and he will likely derive personal financial benefit from all of this.

Kasumović reiterated in an interview with Patria his well-known stance that a bank is not a solution for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that the authorities must implement reforms, primarily reducing public spending, and first and foremost abolishing the cantons.

I am absolutely not interested, says Kasumović, when Čović and others like him take loans in their own name, but he cannot remain silent when they indebt the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes Patria.
