Čović denies BiH voting in UN: A common stance on Ukraine cannot be expected

(Patria) - Chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA Dragan Čović and president of HDZ BiH met yesterday in Zagreb with the leadership and members of the Croatian General Staff. 

The meeting discussed current security challenges in Europe and confirmed that the security strategy on European soil must be compact, unified, and a guarantee of lasting peace.

In a statement to RTL, Čović said that a unified stance of BiH regarding the Russian invasion cannot be expected!?

“I don’t think it is realistic to expect a unified stance. Foreign policy has long been conducted without any standard. Today, it is mostly an expression of an individual political party, and of one nation, certainly not a common interest, which is why we, on behalf of the Croatian people, as leaders of European values, want to follow all the conclusions of the European Commission and institutions. We confirmed this in talks with the Prime Minister, that all the values that are advocated today on this Ukrainian problem, the invasion of Ukraine, we will follow what is the stance of the EU,” Čović pointed out.

Answering the question whether the Croatian army should be on alert due to the situation in BiH, Čović says:

“I am not the one who should talk about that. Our people, including those here who carried out the Homeland War as such and created the Croatian state, can make the right decisions about that. I am convinced that the President of the state and government and all those institutions that should think about it have enough quality information when they will do it, if they do it at all,” Čović said.

We remind you that at last night’s extraordinary session of the UN General Assembly, a Resolution was adopted condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Most member states supported the Resolution condemning the Russian aggression, including Bosnia and Herzegovina.
