Čović and Mogherini in Brussels: It is necessary to continue resolving all significant issues

Chairman of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović met in Brussels with Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice-President of the European Commission.

Chairman of the BiH Presidency Čović and High Representative Mogherini discussed the submission of Bosnia and Herzegovina's application for membership in the European Union.

Čović reminded Mogherini on this occasion of the progress Bosnia and Herzegovina has made in fulfilling the conditions for the next important step on the path to the European Union. He emphasized that all institutions at all levels of government in BiH are working intensively on integration obligations, especially those defined by the conclusions of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency expressed satisfaction with the recently published BiH Progress Report for 2015, which shows the results of the dedicated work done so far on Bosnia and Herzegovina's European integration process.

He also stated that the positive Progress Report has further motivated domestic authorities to continue fulfilling remaining obligations.

The High Representative of the European Union assessed all the steps taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past period as positive, and emphasized that this year's BiH Progress Report is the best indicator of this. She also stated that the BiH authorities at all levels have shown a clear commitment to the European path, and have brought Bosnia and Herzegovina closer to a credible membership application through concrete activities.

It was jointly concluded that it is necessary to continue resolving all significant issues, with regular high-level meetings, in order to direct and encourage progress in the process of approaching the European Union.
