Cormack before the Senate as early as Thursday!

Ambassador Maureen Elizabeth Cormack, whom US President Barack Obama appointed as the new Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH, will speak before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on March 6th this year, the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) has learned.

Cormack will speak before the Foreign Relations Committee about her future engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which the committee will vote on her appointment. Senate confirmation is the final step in appointing an ambassador, after which Cormack, if confirmed, should take up her position in Sarajevo. Cormack is a career diplomat, having worked at the State Department as Deputy Coordinator of the Bureau of International Information Programs.

Among other things, Cormack also served as Director of the Office of Western European Affairs from 2009 to 2010, and as Deputy Director of the Office of Korean Affairs from 2006 to 2009.

She worked in the Homeland Security committees from 2005 to 2006. She joined the State Department in 1989. Cormack earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and her master's degree from the University of Chicago. The previous ambassador, Patrick Moon, left BiH on August 24th, and Nicholas Hill has been serving as Chargé d'Affaires since then.
