CNN calls Ukrainian army pro-American troops

Social networks are full of comments after CNN called the Ukrainian army, which is fighting in southeastern Ukraine, "pro-American forces", reports the Patria News Agency.

During a CNN broadcast on Monday dedicated to the talks between US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on solutions to the Ukrainian crisis, the news "Obama intends to arm pro-American troops" was displayed on the screen, reported "Russia Today".

Comments on social networks called this a Freudian slip, claiming that "the masks have fallen" or that the true agenda behind the conflict in Ukraine has been revealed.

One person commented that it was "the stupidest thing" they had "seen today".

Washington is currently considering the possibility of sending weapons to the Ukrainian army. Official Kyiv and the West accuse Moscow of supplying pro-Russian forces with equipment and fighters to fight against the Ukrainian army in the east of the country, which Russia denies, stating that they have no evidence for such claims.

The Ukrainian conflict began in April last year, when Kyiv sent its regular army and volunteers to the southeastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, after pro-Russian activists refused to recognize the Kyiv authorities, "Russia Today" stated.

According to United Nations data, 5,300 people have been killed in the Ukrainian conflict so far.
