Members from RS did not attend NATO Commission session

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Members of the Commission for NATO Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Republika Srpska did not attend today's session where a decision was to be made on sending the Annual National Programme to Brussels, which would activate the MAP for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Chairperson of the Commission and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Josip Brkić, told reporters that there was a quorum for holding the session, but not for making decisions. The Commission for NATO Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina has 20 members.

The BiH entity Republika Srpska opposes the activation of the MAP for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Brussels, Bosnia and Herzegovina received the green light to send its annual action plan for the MAP to be finally activated, but this plan was not adopted at today's Commission session.

Member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, said after the session of the Presidency of BiH held on Monday that there is a consensus in the Presidency of BiH on the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but there is no consensus on NATO.

“Republika Srpska is not ready to go further on this issue, considering the NSRS Resolution on military neutrality,” he added.
