The price of happiness is highest in Iran, where is Bosnia and Herzegovina on the global map?

(Patria) - Money does not guarantee happiness, but it helps people overcome and satisfy basic life needs.

The least money for happiness is needed by the residents of Sierra Leone - they would on average be happy with an annual salary of only 8,119 euros, or 676 euros per month.

This was shown by a study by an Australian exchange office chain named S Money.

Researchers studied 173 countries around the world, their average salaries and the prices of groceries in local stores to find out the income amount at which further salary increases do not affect an individual's happiness.

They claim to have found the optimal annual amount of money in each of these countries.

The fact that Sierra Leone topped the list of countries happy with the lowest annual salary among the 173 countries included in the study did not surprise anyone too much, writes Punkufer.hr.

This West African country has a very high poverty rate, which experts believe is due to government corruption, lack of an educational system, absence of civil rights, and generally poor infrastructure in the country.

The list of ten countries where happiness is "cheapest" mainly includes countries from Africa and South America. Sierra Leone is followed by Suriname, Madagascar, Guyana, Sudan, Nicaragua, Colombia, Gambia, Bolivia, and Ghana.

On the other hand, people in Iran need the most money for happiness. The same study found that due to huge inflation of almost 60 percent, Iranians needed a salary of 224,800 euros per year, or about 18,737 euros per month to be happy.

The list of ten countries where happiness is most expensive includes Yemen, Australia, Zimbabwe, Norway, Switzerland, New Zealand, Israel, Iceland, and the United States.

Croatia, on the other hand, is somewhere in the middle between the two extremes. According to the S Money study, Croats would be happy with a monthly salary of 1,775 euros per month, or 21,295 euros per year. This is about 6,000 euros less than what Slovenians need, or approximately 3,000 euros more than what Serbs need for happiness.

When it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina, its citizens would be happy with $19,406 annually, according to the study, which is slightly more than 35,000 KM annually, or slightly less than 3,000 KM monthly.
