Čičić: KS budget is 160 million lower, but citizens will not lack anything

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Davor Čičić, Minister of Finance of Sarajevo Canton, addressed the recent events in Sarajevo Canton today.

"Citizens of Sarajevo Canton should know that the budget is stable and that they will not be deprived of any of their rights, despite the fact that this year's budget is 160 million KM lower.

Through rationalization and responsible management of funds, we have ensured the stability of the canton. In the last few months alone, we have secured funding for kindergarten costs for all children, paid bonuses to healthcare workers, and are finding funds for future increases in child allowance for families with three or more children. We have also provided financial support to entrepreneurs affected by the pandemic and launched a whole series of projects," Čičić states.

Minister Čičić called on the opposition in KS to stop focusing on secondary issues and media sensationalism, and to constructively contribute to improving the situation in the canton.

"Instead of fabricated scandals, I want us all to focus on the development of the Canton. This Government is embarking on significant development projects, and objective, well-intentioned critical reviews are welcome. We are building the Ilidža-Hrasnica railway, reconstructing the entire tram line, and procuring new buses, trams, and trolleybuses.

We are building the First Transversal. These are just some of the projects for which we have found ways to secure financing through the EBRD and EIB. These are capital, extremely important projects, and we cannot allow personal egos or populism to thwart or slow down their implementation. Any form of constructive opposition action is welcome in this regard, pointing out potential shortcomings and acting as a corrective factor. Everything else is an empty story that distracts us all from solving the real problems of the citizens, which this Government is solving, despite a significantly lower budget," Čičić emphasized.
