ChatGPT launches business version: Enhanced version for enterprises

(Patria) OpenAI announced it is launching a business version of ChatGPT as the artificial intelligence (AI) struggles with a decline in user numbers nine months after its historic debut, AFP reported.

ChatGPT Enterprise will offer business users a premium version of the bot, with enterprise-level security and privacy improvements over previous versions.

The issue of data security has become important for OpenAI, as large companies, including Apple, Amazon and Samsung, block employees from using ChatGPT for fear that sensitive information will be exposed.

"Today is another step towards an AI assistant for work that helps with any task, is tailored to your organization, and protects your company's data," said OpenAI.

The ChatGPT business version resembles Bing Chat Enterprise, Microsoft's offering, which uses the same OpenAI technology through a major partnership.

ChatGPT Enterprise will run on GPT-4, OpenAI's most efficient model, similar to ChatGPT Plus, the company's subscription version for individuals, but business users will have special benefits, including better speed.

"We believe AI can help and improve every aspect of our work life and make teams more creative and productive," the company said. It added that companies including Carlyle, The Estée Lauder Companies and PwC have already adopted ChatGPT Enterprise.
The release came as ChatGPT struggles to maintain the interest that made it the fastest-downloaded app in the world in the weeks after its launch.

That distinction was taken last month by Threads, Twitter's rival, which is owned by Meta along with Facebook. According to analytics company Similarweb, ChatGPT traffic fell by nearly 10 percent in June and again in July, which could be attributed to the school break, they note. Similarweb estimates that about a quarter of ChatGPT users worldwide are in the 18 to 24 age group.

OpenAI is also facing rejection from news publishers and other platforms, including X, as Twitter is now called, and Reddit – which are blocking OpenAI web crawlers from mining their data for training AI models.
