Four candidates for police commissioner before members of the Independent Board

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Four candidates for the police commissioner of the MUP KS have oral interviews today with members of the Independent Board for the Election and Review of the Police Commissioner.

Miroslav Kružik, president of the IB, previously told Patria that the members of the IB will ask candidates questions in accordance with the submitted work programs of the MUP KS Police Administration and measures to improve police work.

“After the interviews are conducted, the Independent Board will submit a list with at least two candidates to the Minister of Internal Affairs of KS, and then he will delegate it to the KS Government,” said Kružik.

Nusret Selimović, head of the Hadžići Police Directorate, Mirsad Đelilović, head of the Centar Police Directorate, Džafer Hrvat, head of the Uniformed Police Sector, and Muhamed Hasanović, head of the Police Support Sector, applied for the position of police commissioner. These are candidates who have been in the MUP KS Police Administration for years and have held various positions. Criminal charges have been filed with the BiH Prosecutor's Office against two of the four applicants, Mirsad Đelilović and Džafer Hrvat. In October 2018, the charges were filed by Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, in the context of concealing evidence and complicity in hiding the truth about the death of the 21-year-old young man in February 2016.

Acting police commissioner Milorad Bašić did not submit complete documentation and thus remained out of the race for the new police commissioner.

The election of the police commissioner should be completed by mid-August.
