(Patria) - The Czech army has recently recorded a series of incidents in which unknown unmanned aerial vehicles flew over military facilities and key infrastructure, said army spokesperson Magdalena Dvořáková.
According to her, the list of affected locations is classified and not officially disclosed.
Dvořáková did not specify exactly when individual overflights were recorded.
- The list of those facilities is classified - said the spokesperson.
The Czech army, she added, is ready to detect, identify and neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles - either by shooting them down or by jamming radio frequencies, depending on the circumstances and risk assessment.
- We choose the method according to the specific circumstances and risk balance - explained Dvořáková.
Who is behind these flights is not yet known. In several European countries, concern has grown that Russia could be involved in such operations, but there is no publicly confirmed evidence to support this.
Similar security developments have been observed in neighboring countries - recently in Belgium, three people were arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack using a drone targeting the prime minister.
The Czech report on the increase in unidentified drone appearances comes at a time when European countries are stepping up surveillance and measures against aerial threats, security sources point out.
The army and relevant services say they will continue to monitor the situation and respond in accordance with threat assessments.
