Central Bank of BiH: Continuation of pressure aimed at damaging reputation

(Patria) - In light of the intention to organize a gathering in front of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBiH), the institution rejected all claims by the organizers of the rally.

"We believe this is a continuation of continuous pressure on this institution aimed at destabilizing and damaging the reputation and integrity of the state institution responsible for implementing monetary policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We emphasize that behind the organization of this rally is a former employee of the CBBiH, who is abusing public space and trying to exert pressure on the CBBiH solely for personal interests. The CBBiH has repeatedly informed the public about a series of violations committed and continues to commit by this individual, the existence of which has also been confirmed in the decisions of the competent court. It is known that the individual endangered the transport of money, and after that endangered the safety of employees and property of the CBBiH, for which criminal charges have been filed against this individual.

While pointing out alleged illegalities that amount only to inscriptions and banners, without any evidence, at the same time the aforementioned individual refuses to accept the CBBiH's requests for the return of funds based on court decisions that were made in favor of the CBBiH. We are witnessing a period in which social platforms are used as a means for unlimited dissemination of untruths and manipulation of certain groups of people, and state institutions of the highest importance are used for self-promotion by informal groups and organizations," the CBBiH announced.

They point out that the CBBiH supports civic activism aimed at democratizing society and strengthening the state and its institutions, not at promoting the personal interests of individuals.

"Even in a very complicated situation, both domestically and globally, the CBBiH proudly emphasizes that it is a BiH institution that, without exception, exercises all its legal powers and operates in accordance with the applicable laws, despite numerous pressures it continuously endures, receiving praise and recognition most often from international institutions and organizations, which recognize the importance of the CBBiH and the dedicated and responsible work of its employees. These are values that we will certainly protect in the coming period, and we will not foster or tolerate idleness and irresponsible attitudes towards extremely important tasks performed within the institution. The CBBiH is a constitutional category, with a very important function for the state, and as such represents one of the pillars of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and attacks, pressures, and attempts to damage the reputation of this institution strengthen our resolve to preserve its integrity and the trust that the citizens of our country have in the CBBiH," the statement added.
