Central Bank of BiH: Monetary and Financial System in BiH is Stable

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The monetary, and thus the financial system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is stable, announced the Information Office of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"On the accounts of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), there are currently 5.5 billion KM deposited by commercial banks and their depositors. Of this amount, 2.7 billion KM is the mandatory reserve, while 2.8 billion KM represents a surplus above the mandatory reserve. This clearly indicates that the banking system in the country is liquid and there is currently no need for further reduction of the Mandatory Reserve rate," stated the Central Bank.

The CBBH has a sufficient amount of convertible mark cash and euro banknotes, so it can meet the needs of commercial banks in order to supply citizens and the economy.

"We want to note that in addition to the above, commercial banks also have significant cash funds, which is a guarantee of fulfilling all the needs of the financial system for cash as a whole. The CBBH continuously monitors the situation and undertakes all necessary measures in accordance with its legal authorizations in protecting monetary stability and the domestic currency," stated the Central Bank of BiH.
