Central Bank of BiH Denies Claims by "Švicarac"

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBiH) has denied claims about proposed solutions regarding the problem of loan repayment in Swiss francs, which were presented in a statement, published after a meeting with CBBiH Governor Kemal Kozarić, by the President of the Association „Švicarac“ Kemal Duraković.

Governor Kozarić held a meeting today with the President of the Association „Švicarac“, and informed him of the CBBiH's readiness to, with the aim of preserving monetary and financial stability, mediate in finding a solution that would satisfy all parties and provide a certain degree of security for users of loans in Swiss francs. In this regard, the Governor informed Duraković that at today's session, the Financial Stability Committee will consider the situation arising from the change in the CHF exchange rate and the servicing of loans with a currency clause in CHF held by BiH citizens.

The Governor particularly emphasized that a concrete solution can only be reached through an agreement between the commercial bank and its clients.

The Standing Committee for Financial Stability today recommended that banks which approved loans in CHF offer, within seven days, solutions that would be acceptable to clients, the users of these loans.

The solutions offered by commercial banks will be considered at the next meeting of the Financial Stability Committee.
