(Patria) - The Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada sent an open letter to the Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić and Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović regarding the anti-civilizational denial of genocide in Srebrenica by the Minister of Justice, Human and Minority Rights Vladimir Leposavić.
"The International Expert Team of the Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada {IGK} publicly protests and condemns the inappropriate statement by your minister Leposavić. Denial of genocide, denial of historical and judicial facts, glorification of war criminals constitutes a violation of all universal declarations and resolutions of the United Nations and the European Union. The statement by your minister in the Parliament of Montenegro is one of the greatest defeats for the state of Montenegro and proof of human destruction and a definitive shameful defeat of human, Montenegrin morality, a defeat of human rights and freedoms, a defeat of the Montenegrin man and historical Montenegrin civilization, a sinking of the human mind.
As the 29th member of NATO and a candidate for membership in the European Union, Montenegro must adhere to the Charter of the United Nations, the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, International Law, the Genocide Convention - and in all relevant resolutions of its problems, use the indicated acts of International Law and attached documents and final judgments of international courts in order to prevent the humiliation of genocide victims. With this immoral statement and some other activities of your government, Bosniaks in Montenegro have been excluded from the domain of legal protection and are therefore victims of anyone who humiliates them without harmful consequences for themselves. Bosniaks in Montenegro are asked to forget the genocide and abandon the victim's position, and even apologize for Serbian and Montenegrin victims, and to build their social status as self-persecutors - so that others are satisfied. There is no greater humiliation than subservience, and therefore Bosniaks in Montenegro and all other true Montenegrins must not agree to it, but must preserve themselves as a democratic, European people.
On behalf of Holocaust and genocide researchers, friends of truth and justice, and the greatest human and civilizational values, unwavering fighters against the darkest forces of evil, we call on you not to allow the denial of genocide in Srebrenica in the state bodies of Montenegro. We demand that you immediately stop the joint criminal political action aimed at denying the truth about the genocide in Srebrenica as a standard of the state of Montenegro. The victims of genocide oblige us, in the name of the future of humanity and the highest human and social values, freedoms and rights, civilizational and cultural achievements and goods, not to allow, or rather to thwart, all intentions and attempts by which the crime of genocide is rewarded, and the victim is further punished.
We raise our voice against the deniers of genocide in Montenegro and send a message that will, we hope, significantly influence and affect the consciousness and morals of you responsible, Montenegrin leaders, in order to save contemporary humanity and civilization, preserve the highest human values, human rights and the lives of all, especially the unprotected, small, weak and helpless. Present and future generations must finally learn a historical lesson from all past genocide crimes, in the interest of the future of contemporary humanity and civilization, about the need to strengthen, develop and unite all anti-fascist forces, regardless of national, ethnic, racial, religious, ideological or political affiliation and commitment, in a strategy of preventing the punishment and denial of genocide crimes. Therefore, only a swift, uncompromising condemnation of the denial of genocide in Srebrenica by your minister can be a lasting basis for developing our capabilities in timely detection, identification, prevention and punishment of genocide crimes, in which state leaders have a historical role and responsibility. It is the obligation of world leaders to speak on behalf of the victims, to remind of their suffering and tears.
Expecting your swift reaction, an apology from the Government of Montenegro, and the dismissal of the irresponsible minister, we remind you once again that the genocide in Srebrenica is not a matter of anyone's opinion, it is a judicial fact that was first recognized by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, and then by the International Court of Justice," the letter states.
