Awaiting release from hospital: State prosecutor to question members of car theft ring arrested in Ilidža

The acting prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office will, as soon as conditions allow, question the suspects who were arrested during an exchange of fire with police while attempting to steal an expensive motor vehicle in the Ilidža settlement, the BiH Prosecutor's Office announced, reports the Patria News Agency.

- Given that the suspects were wounded, they will be questioned as soon as conditions allow, and pre-trial detention will be proposed. An order has already been issued for them to be under constant guard and police supervision. The suspects are members of an organized criminal group that has been operating in Sarajevo and BiH for a considerable period, according to operational and intelligence findings.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the Border Police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, and SIPA, is conducting intensive activities to combat a group of suspected members who commit theft, document forgery, and further sale of expensive motor vehicles, due to the elements of international and organized crime.

Given the alarming situation in this area, especially in the capital of BiH, where nearly 1,000 vehicles are stolen annually (more than 2 vehicles per day), the engagement of all police and judicial structures is necessary, especially at the entity and cantonal levels, in prosecuting perpetrators of criminal offenses that do not involve elements of international and organized crime, the BiH Prosecutor's Office stated.
