Čedo Čolović sentenced to three years in prison for espionage

The Higher Court in Belgrade found Čedo Čolović guilty of espionage for Croatia and sentenced him to three years in prison, reports the BH news agency Patria.

The Belgrade court accepted the agreement, i.e., plea bargain, on admitting guilt between the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade and Čedo Čolović and rendered a verdict according to which Čolović is sentenced to a prison term of three years.

As announced by the Higher Court in Belgrade, Čolović will remain in custody until it is determined where he will serve his prison sentence.

Čedo Čolović was arrested on September 2nd in Serbia on charges of spying for Croatia. Čolović holds both Croatian and Serbian citizenship, was born in Tepljuh near Drniš, fought on the Serbian side during the war, and moved to Belgrade after being wounded.

Croatia denied having any connection with Čolović. Technical Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković stated that Čolović is not a Croatian spy and that it is likely another provocation by Serbia.
