Ceca to Sing Not Far from Where Arkan Killed Bosniaks

Announcements that Serbian folk singer Svetlana Ražnatović Ceca, the wife of the late war criminal Željko Ražnatović Arkan, will hold a concert on July 30 at the „Dr. Milan Jelić“ stadium in Modriča, have sparked strong reactions on the social network Facebook, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The very fact that her husband, during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, killed hundreds of innocent Bosniaks in Zvornik, Bijeljina, and other surrounding towns just 50 kilometers away, makes many people's blood run cold.

„So much for brotherhood and unity with the heavenly people. If they respected the innocent victims of war and thought about coexistence, they would never allow her to sing in Bosnia.“ „Didn't Arkan provide her with enough money through looting and theft during the aggression?“, „Ceca is moving on dangerous ground“... These are just some of the comments left on their Facebook profiles by those who do not want the singer to come to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is reported that many Bosniak women, during Ceca's appearances on television shows, recognized their jewelry on her, which Arkan brought to her during his criminal campaigns in Bosnia.

Bijeljina journalist Emir Musli told the Bosnian news agency Patria that Bosniaks have long since stopped perceiving Ceca either positively or negatively. She is not a subject of their thoughts. However, he is surprised that the local Serbs have so quickly forgotten the misdeeds that her husband Arkan committed not only against Bosniaks but also against local Serbs.

- Arkan's Guard, which was not a paramilitary formation but a legal unit of the Serbian authorities, took the largest fire engine in the Balkans, which was stationed in Bijeljina, stole a fire truck worth up to one million marks, looted an entire department store, and committed several other misdeeds. And no one came forward to say that what Arkan stole should also belong to the Serbs of Bijeljina. They forgave him everything – says Musli.

Spasoje Joksimović, one of the organizers of Ceca's concert in Modriča, confirmed to the news agency Patria that negotiations with the singer are ongoing, but it is still not certain whether she will appear in Modriča.

- The concert is planned for July 30 and is intended to be a humanitarian event for the flooded areas of Modriča and surrounding places, but we are still not sure if the concert will happen at all – Joksimović told Patria.
