Čavić: Dodik is lying, he uses Srebrenica to discredit me as a candidate for mayor of Banja Luka

In recent months, SNSD leader and RS President Milorad Dodik has used every public appearance to fiercely criticize former RS President Dragan Čavić because he accepted the report that more than 8,000 Bosniaks were killed in Srebrenica. Dodik also continuously calls out Čavić to renounce his signature on the Srebrenica report and publicly apologize to the Serbian people, writes the Patria news agency.

NDP leader and candidate for mayor of Banja Luka in the upcoming local elections, Dragan Čavić, told the Patria news agency that Dodik is lying, and that Dragan Čavić never put his signature on any report.

-If he has any arguments, evidence, or written trace, let him show it. I am ready to face him eye to eye before the public. At the time when the RS Government report was created, I was the President of RS.

A mixed commission was formed that established the facts about the suffering in Srebrenica. I have nothing to do with that report of the Commission for Investigation of Events in and around Srebrenica from 2004.

Dodik is now attacking me and using this for election purposes to compromise and discredit me in the public as a candidate for mayor of Banja Luka, emphasizes Čavić.

Čavić states that he has as much connection to the report as Dodik himself.

- Everything I had to say about Srebrenica, I said publicly in an address on RTRS in the spring of 2004, which can be found on YouTube. That is my only connection to the tragic events in Srebrenica from 1995.

But Milorad Dodik publicly admitted that genocide occurred in Srebrenica, which I, unlike him, never stated, and you can also watch that on YouTube, says Čavić, adding that Dodik now does not mention his statement at all, although there is a video recording, but he lies about him.

So far, 6,500 victims of genocide have been buried

At the Memorial Center in Potočari, 6,500 remains of killed Srebrenica victims have been buried so far. Another 2,000 are still being searched for.

By Hague verdicts, the war crime in Srebrenica is clearly defined as genocide, which Dodik and other political representatives from RS persistently deny.
