Čaušević continues giving testimony: Will the future Croatian member of the BiH Presidency be arrested?

Kemal Čaušević, former director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, has given a number of testimonies to the BiH Prosecutor's Office since June 18, when he was arrested, bh. news agency Patria has learned.

The names of high-ranking SDA, HDZ BiH, and SNSD officials that Čaušević has already mentioned, both in his first statement immediately after his arrest and in subsequent ones, are mostly the same, only he has supplemented his additional testimonies with new details, listing all the services he performed under their pressure.

Čaušević was released from custody on September 12, and according to the law, the deadline for the BiH Prosecutor's Office to file an indictment is six months, during which the prosecutorial investigation will last.

This would mean that an indictment can be expected in January of next year in the case of the century, in which the state of BiH, according to what has been revealed so far, has suffered damages of at least 2 billion KM, while tens of millions of KM have flowed into the pockets of individuals.

Among the most frequently mentioned high-ranking politicians for whom Čaušević provided details about where he was with them, what they discussed, and what they asked of him, is the future member of the BiH Presidency from the Croat people, Dragan Čović.

As a reminder, Čović was mentioned by the former director of the ITA BiH in the context of "friendly persuasion" to buy the Sokol hall across from the already purchased building for the needs of the ITA.

Čović allegedly drove Čaušević in his car and showed him the hall, which a court expert estimated at 900,000 KM, for the ITA to buy for 1.5 million KM! The Authority did not actually buy the building from Sokol, but from Čović's friend who first privatized the property and then sold it to the ITA.

It is indicative that Čović's friend bought the building from Sokol at a time when the future Croatian member of the BiH Presidency was at the head of this Mostar company. High-ranking HDZ BiH officials Dragan Vrankić and the current Chairman of the Council of Ministers and future state representative Vjekoslav Bevanda also attended the talks about the purchase of the disputed building.

As a reminder, Čović was already in custody due to the "Lijanović" case. In 2006, he was sentenced to five years in prison for abuse of office during his time as Minister of Finance of the FBiH in 2000. He was acquitted by a second-instance verdict.

After the investigation into the criminal case related to the ITA BiH is completed, and if it is proven that all the named officials from these three parties were indeed the political masterminds behind Čaušević (and as things stand, there is ample evidence), and that they illegally acquired property benefits amounting to millions, the question logically arises whether the Croatian member of the BiH Presidency and certain state representatives will then be arrested?
