(Patria) - British Foreign Secretary David Cameron wrote in a column for the Sunday Times, on the occasion of six months since the start of the war in Gaza, that his country's support for Israel "is not unconditional" and will depend on how much it respects international humanitarian law, Reuters reports.
His message comes just days after seven humanitarian workers, including three British citizens, were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
The British government has been one of Israel's closest allies since the start of the war with the Palestinian Hamas, however, Cameron has hardened his stance in recent months due to the severe humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
Cameron warned in his column yesterday of the risk of mass starvation unless Israel allows more aid to pass into the enclave.
The British government is also under pressure to release the latest legal assessments of Israel's conduct of the war in Gaza, which could potentially affect British arms exports to that country.
