Bukvarević: Publicly call out directors of public companies who refuse to employ children of martyrs

The Management Board of the Organization of Families of Martyrs and Fallen Soldiers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a regular session today in the Government building of the FBiH in Sarajevo, which was also attended by the Federal Minister for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defense-Liberation War, Salko Bukvarević, along with his associates, reports the Patria news agency.

Addressing the members of the Management Board, Minister Bukvarević presented the upcoming tasks and activities of the Federal Ministry for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defense-Liberation War.

The Minister first emphasized that the projection of the Budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2016 foresees that the level of achieved rights and allocations for the veteran population will not be reduced, and that payments for this category will continue to be a priority in monthly payments to budget beneficiaries.

He also stated that it is expected that in the third week of November this year, the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will discuss a set of veteran laws to align them with the rulings of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bukvarević also spoke about the number of associations and the need for legal regulation of which associations gather and represent the veteran population. He particularly emphasized the commitment to give priority in employment to the children of martyrs and fallen soldiers, and stated that as a member of the FBiH Government, he will demand from directors of public companies and institutions to respect the rule of priority employment for children from this category in tender procedures. He asked the members of the Management Board to publicly call out directors who do not respect the priority in employing children of martyrs and fallen soldiers.

He requested from the Organization of Families of Martyrs and Fallen Soldiers to form a register of these children with data on completed education and employment status, so that he could inform the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina about it.

He reiterated the repeatedly stated position that the relevant federal ministry is a service to the veteran population and that veteran categories are the basis for its existence.

The President of the Management Board of this organization, Almin Škrijelj, emphasized that in the past period he had daily and intensive cooperation with the Minister and the Ministry, and that on all issues discussed by the relevant minister, as the president of the organization, he was invited to meetings where he gave opinions and proposals, and that this practice should continue. Škrijelj requested additional efforts for amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would grant rights to widows of martyrs and fallen soldiers under the age of 45 – announced the Federal Ministry for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defense-Liberation War, the relevant ministry stated.
