(Patria) - The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Sofia is ready, if necessary, to provide an air corridor for Russian President Vladimir Putin's plane on its way to Budapest for a meeting with US leader Donald Trump, said Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, TASS reported.
"When efforts are made for peace, it is logical for all parties to contribute to make such a meeting possible," he told Radio Bulgaria in Luxembourg.
"And how else could the meeting take place if one of the participants cannot come?" added the head of diplomacy.
On October 16, Trump, after a phone call with Putin, said they had agreed to meet soon in Budapest.
Russian President's aide Yuri Ushakov also confirmed that Moscow and Washington will begin preparations for a new meeting of the two leaders, which could take place in the Hungarian capital "without delay." According to him, this is "truly a very important moment".
Preparations for the meeting will begin in the near future, following a phone call between
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Ushakov said.
