Bulgaria still repairing gas pipeline, we borrowed gas from Serbia again

(Patria) - Bulgaria should soon repair the gas pipeline fault that halted the TurkStream transport, and BiH had to borrow gas from Serbia to have heating today. For almost two days, Bulgaria has been repairing the fault on the 33-year-old pipes and replacing them with new ones. 

While BiH is left without any alternative solution because it switched to TurkStream on April 1st, despite having a valid contract with the Hungarians, which led to arbitration because BH-Gas did not pay invoices, Serbia has arranged an emergency purchase of gas from Hungary and redirected part of it to BiH. 300,000 cubic meters were delivered yesterday afternoon, and another 300,000 today.

"Bulgartransgas" teams have been on site for over 17 hours. We continue activities on the reconstruction of the gas pipeline. We will make a great effort to finish perhaps by the end of the day," said Vladimir Malinov, executive director of "Bulgartransgas", which manages the pipeline. 

Ukraine has offered Serbia and Hungary to realize gas supplies through its territory due to the new situation in Bulgaria.

A press conference for the media on the current situation regarding the gas supply to the Federation of BiH will be held at the FBiH Government on Wednesday. Sarajevo's Toplane have switched to fuel oil and heating oil due to this situation, while some users are without heating because the boiler rooms run exclusively on gas. 

Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić, Director of Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo Bisera Hadžialjević, and acting Director of BH Gas d.o.o. Sarajevo Mihajlo Krmpotić will address the media representatives.
