Livno's budget unblocked, Hana Milak from SDP elected City Council President

After several unsuccessful attempts, the Livno City Council was finally constituted today. Hana Milak from SDP BiH was elected president of the council, and Ivan Penić from HDZ 1990 was elected vice-president. Hana Milak's appointment was challenged by SDA, even with claims that she could not declare herself as Bosniak, which the Central Election Commission (CIK) refuted.

- This is the most responsible job I have ever done, and it is a great challenge. I invite all women to get involved in politics and contribute. It is an incredible pleasure to be the first female president of the council in Livno.

Council members from HDZ and SDP voted for Milak at the session. Milak was also the favorite of HRS, which publicly stated that they would not support a Bosniak representative from SDA because he had been in power for the last eight years and had not brought anything good to the city together with HDZ. However, the votes were not cast. Milak's election was made possible because HDZ abandoned its demand for the vice-president from their ranks to be elected as part of a package. They did this under pressure because it was necessary to adopt a decision on temporary financing to unblock budget payments.

- Finally, after the fifth meeting of the constitutive session, we elected the leadership. It had become tense for everyone, and we finally realized that it was time to unblock financial flows. We will strive to adopt the budget very soon, said Darko Čondrić, Mayor of Livno.

Immediately after the constitutive session, an extraordinary session of the council was held, at which the decision on the temporary financing of the City of Livno in the amount of 1.7 million marks was adopted.
