Budimir signs budget decision, cantons to have funds available soon

President of FBiH Živko Budimir signed the decision on the adopted budget rebalance, unblocking BAM 40 million for cantons affected by floods, the BH News Agency Patria has learned.

Otherwise, Budimir stayed in South Korea in the past few days, and the decision on the rebalance was pending. Upon arrival, he said he would sign the decision on Monday. Whether Budimir was "forced" to fulfill his obligation by media reporting or the approaching October elections is still unknown.

As is known, the rebalance of the FBiH budget for 2014, adopted by the FBiH Parliament on July 31, allocated BAM 40 million for credit fund transfers to cantons.

As our source from the FBiH Government stated, after the President of FBiH signs the decision, it needs to be published by the FBiH Government, and the funds will finally be unblocked in the coming days. However, if the President of FBiH had done this earlier, the funds could have already been unblocked for the cantons, writes Patria.

Otherwise, this was not the first time Budimir blocked the process of adopting certain laws, as was the case with the Law on the Establishment of a Fund for Assistance to Victims of Floods in FBiH. At that time, Budimir justified himself by saying that the laws had not reached the Presidency of FBiH and that he immediately put his signature upon receiving the documents, which allows the publication of the law in the official gazette, writes Patria.
