(Patria) - A ceremony performed by 1601 children was held at the Square of Sarajevo Children on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the 1601 murdered children of besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995.
The children performed several appropriate pieces with accompanying choreography.
Representatives of authorities from all levels of government attended the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance, but there were no representatives from the Council of Ministers of BiH.
Members of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović, Vice President of FBiH Refik Lendo, Prime Minister of FBiH Nermin Nikšić with a delegation of the FBiH Government, Prime Minister of KS Nihad Uk with ministers and deputies of the KS Assembly, delegations of the Federal Parliament, and delegations of the City of Sarajevo, municipalities, and associations attended the commemoration.
The president of the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo, Fikret Grabovica, told reporters that on May 5, the Day of Remembrance for the Murdered Children of Sarajevo, 1,601 children would perform in a choir.
"Precisely because no one has been prosecuted for the murder of children, 1,601 children will be present here today in the choir. This is a symbolism because that is the number of children who were killed during the siege of the city," he said.
Grabovica stated that the performance would be universal with a message solely directed at the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Why the Prosecutor's Office? Well, because in the past three decades, they have not filed a single indictment, let alone prosecuted or punished those responsible and those who committed such brutal crimes against the youngest population of this city," he said.
He emphasized that this would be a story, a dramaturgy that will remain for future decades, for future generations, to inform everyone about what happened in Sarajevo and how important peace and freedom are, and that such evil as in the 90s never happens anywhere again.

Due to construction work on the promenade adjacent to the memorial to the murdered children of besieged Sarajevo 1992-95, access was not possible, so delegations could not lay flowers and wreaths.
