Death toll in Gaza approaches 15,000

(Patria) - The Hamas-run government in Gaza announced that the death toll in the Palestinian territory has reached 14,854 since the start of the war on October 7 between Israeli forces and Hamas, AFP reported.

The Hamas government stated that among the dead are 6,150 children and 4,000 women, while another 36,000 people have been wounded. The Ministry of Health earlier said it could no longer provide accurate figures because intense fighting prevented the recovery of bodies.

According to information from Qatar and Egypt, which have acted as mediators between Israel and Hamas, a ceasefire and the release of some hostages and prisoners on both sides will begin at seven o'clock this morning.
