Number of candidates for presidential nomination in Russia rises to 29

(Patria) - The number of candidates for presidential nomination in the upcoming elections in Russia has reached 29, said the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Ella Pamfilova.

- Many of our colleagues are currently attending candidate congresses, the number of which has reached 29 - Pamfilova said at a CEC session, reported by the Tass agency.

According to Russian law on presidential elections, self-nominated candidates must secure the support of a group of voters, notify the CEC in advance about the group meeting, and submit documentation to the commission by December 27.

Political parties have the right to nominate their candidates at congresses, and party candidates must submit papers by January 1.

The presidential elections will be held from March 15 to 17, 2024.
