(Patria) - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed trade between the two nations, among other things, with US President Donald Trump.
Situations in Ukraine and Iran were also discussed, a Downing Street spokesperson announced late last night, Reuters reported.
The United Kingdom hopes to reach an agreement with Trump after he imposed ten percent tariffs on most British goods imported into the United States and a higher rate of 25 percent on imports of cars, steel, and aluminum.
"The leaders began by discussing the ongoing and productive discussions between the UK and the US on trade," said the spokesperson.
He added that Starmer emphasized his commitment to free trade while preserving national interests.
Starmer and Trump also touched upon the situations in Ukraine and Iran, and recent actions against the Houthis in Yemen, said the spokesperson for the British Prime Minister's office.
