British diplomats convinced that foreign investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina make sense

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy for the Western Balkans and Member of the British Parliament, Mr. Martin Vickers, accompanied by the British Ambassador to BiH, His Excellency Matt Field, visited the company Eastern Mining d.o.o. in Vareš today, where the hosts presented the progress achieved and the largest investment in the mining sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Adnan Teletović, General Director of Eastern Mining, informed the delegation about the direct and indirect benefits of this mining project for the Vareš region and the entire country, emphasizing the need for foreign investments of this kind to be the pillar of future investments.

"The Vareš mining facility is a perfect example of what foreign investments, in this case from Great Britain and other countries, in combination with the experience of the local workforce, can do for a city and even an entire country," said Teletović, adding that "we see our activities here as a continuation of Vareš's mining tradition, using the most modern technologies and best practices."

The Vareš mining project is a significant investment by the United Kingdom in Bosnia and Herzegovina, utilizing British skills, experience, and market knowledge.

"I have carefully followed the development of this project and I am truly satisfied with the results already visible in the Vareš region. The Vareš mining project is an example of how the relationship between a foreign investor, local authorities, and the local community can be developed and maintained while adhering to the highest environmental and social standards," said British Ambassador Matt Field.

"During today's visit to Eastern Mining, I saw a positive example of cooperation between our two countries, which benefits all parties involved in this project. I am sure that with appropriate regulation and additional efforts from both sides, the investor and the authorities, this is just the beginning of a larger and more fruitful cooperation in many fields," emphasized the British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy Martin Vickers.

Eastern Mining d.o.o. holds a concession for exploration and exploitation in Vareš. The British company began exploration in this area in 2017, focusing on mineral ores with the aim of reviving the mining industry in the region. The company intends to start modern ore production, with exports of base and precious metal concentrates worldwide.
