Britain mobilizes thousands of police officers: Peak of unrest tonight

(Patria) - More than 6,000 British police officers are preparing for new anti-immigrant and anti-Islamic riots due to the announcement by far-right groups that they will attack asylum seeker centers and immigrant offices across the country.

A tense situation has prevailed on the streets of Great Britain since a 17-year-old stabbed and killed three girls in the northwestern English town of Southport last week.

Anti-immigrant and anti-Islamic groups have used this crime to spread misinformation and hatred online, thereby inciting riots in a number of cities. They fabricated information that the perpetrator was an Islamist and an asylum seeker, although the police later announced that none of it was true, Nova reports.

Anti-racist and anti-fascist groups have announced counter-demonstrations in cities across the country.

"Racist scum will try to attack the office of an immigration lawyer. We will not let that happen - bring face masks," reads one of the messages from counter-demonstrators.

The government has established a unit of 6,000 special forces to combat rioters, who will respond to any violence.

"This country is facing one of the worst outbreaks of violent riots in the last decade. We will not tolerate it on our streets. We will use all available forces, tactics, and tools to prevent further unrest," said Andy Valentine, in charge of the police operation in London.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that more than 400 people have been arrested so far, and 100 have been charged, and that he expects the first verdicts soon.

On communication applications, rioters are arranging attacks on immigration centers and law firms that help migrants for tonight.

"Wednesday night, guys. They won't stop coming until you tell them to stop," reads one message.
