British train Ukrainian soldiers to become instructors

(Patria) - The training of Ukrainian soldiers by the British army has entered a crucial new phase with over 100 soldiers trained to become instructors, the BBC reported.

The soldiers participated in an intensive course in Wiltshire to improve their skills
in using self-propelled artillery guns. Around 30 AS90s and 14 Challenger 2 battle tanks are being sent to Ukraine, as announced by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Ukrainian instructors are learning how to fire and operate artillery so they can teach others back home.

The Ministry of Defence has trained 120 Ukrainian personnel in the use of the AS90 in recent months, and 12 commanders were also trained in June.

Training on the AS90, which has a range of 24.7 km, is taking place at a specialized facility under the
control of the Royal School of Artillery.

There are no plans to stop training in this country, and the British army is committed to supporting Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence announced.

The UK is the second-largest donor to Ukraine, with a contribution of £2.3 billion in 2022.
