(Patria) - Iran received diplomatic support from other BRICS countries at a meeting in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, when the bloc condemned recent air strikes by Israel and the US on Iran, AFP reported.
"We condemn the military attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran from June 13, 2025, which constitute a violation of international law," leaders said in a statement from the summit, without naming the United States or Israel.
BRICS also called on negotiators to achieve a swift and unconditional ceasefire to end the war in Gaza.
"We call on the parties to engage in further negotiations in good faith to achieve an immediate, lasting, and unconditional cessation of hostilities, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip," BRICS announced.
BRICS also called for "the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and all other parts of the occupied Palestinian territories".
The BRICS gathering includes Iran's main adversary Israel, but also nations like Russia, which have close ties with that country.
