Brazilian President Lula tied with Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in polls

(Patria) - A second round of elections in October between Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flavio Bolsonaro would result in a tie, according to the latest Datafolha poll released on Saturday, Reuters reported.

According to the poll, a second round of elections between Lula and Flavio, the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, would end in a tie.

An April poll showed Lula winning 45% in a second round, with Flavio at 46%, a statistical tie due to the poll's margin of error of approximately two percentage points.

According to the poll of 2,004 voters, Lula would have 38% in the first round, with Flavio securing second place with 35%.

Most interviews for the latest poll were conducted before Intercept Brasil published a story about Flavio's connection with former banker Daniel Vorcaro.

According to the story, Flavio allegedly negotiated the receipt of 134 million reais ($26.5 million) with Vorcaro, the former owner of Banco Master, to finance a film about his father's life.

Vorcaro is currently in prison amid an investigation into the scandal surrounding the collapse of Banco Master.

Flavio has denied any wrongdoing in his dealings with Vorcaro.
